Use the results for screening—not as a release approval.
Power converters can involve hazardous voltage, current, stored energy, temperature, and electromagnetic interference. Simplified calculations cannot establish that hardware is safe or compliant.
Estimates and assumptions
Results depend on the accuracy of user inputs and on simplified steady-state models. Actual behavior can differ because of nonlinear device capacitances, switching-energy test conditions, parasitic inductance, reverse recovery, magnetic saturation, thermal interfaces, tolerances, aging, control behavior, layout, and measurement conditions.
Required independent verification
Review the latest manufacturer datasheets and application guidance. Verify ratings, SOA, transient thermal impedance, magnetics, protection, insulation, creepage and clearance, stability, EMC, and fault response. Confirm the final design with appropriate simulation, laboratory measurement, and qualified engineering review.
